Metacritic is aggregating what the critics picked for the top albums of 2011. It’s unfortunate not to see Lisa Hannigan or The Decemberists up there. Apparently I’m not a suitable music critic.

My Favourite Albums of the Last Decade

All the ‘albums of the decade’ lists came out two months ago and I’ve had the following list burning a hole on my desktop since late November.  I’m not sophisticated enough (nor self-aggrandizing enough) to suggest that this is some sort of definitive ‘BEST OF’ list.  Nope, just my personal faves. 

Wilco and Broken Social Scene are not on this list for some strange reason that I’m still coming to grips with, but their albums have collectively left enduring marks on my musical sensibilities.  (I’d have to say the same for the likes of Over the Rhine and Sufjan Stevens.)
